Giannina Biousse’s grandfather is Miguelito Valdes. He was the Latin Frank Sinatra singer, and during more than five decades of performing made him one of the Latin music’s most popular artists. He started singing very young and in 1937 he was performing as the vocalist for the corporation Casino de la Playa Orchestra, which was among Cuba’s five most popular orchestras. He left Cuba in 1940 and joined Xavier Cugat band at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. After that he became very famous and started his solo career in 1942. He recorded for several labels, and did 12 movies in Hollywood together with Fred Astair, for example. He hosted a television show for ten years in New York. He died on stage of a heart attack during his presentation in Bogotá Colombia.In 2001 Giannina Biousse , her brothers and sister decided to create a company VALDES PRODUCTION SARL in Switzerland, to promote their grandfather’s image and collect the royalties from several labels.
